1 Hr Gestational Diabetes Test!

28 weeks means it is time for me to take my gestational diabetes test. It was just the one hour test but still no fun. I had to start by fasting at 8:15 this morning (I needed to do a 4-6 hour fast). This was the hardest part because I love to snack on things and today I had 1/2 day conferences at school so there was more down time than a typical Friday. 1 hour before the test I had to drink this lovely lemon-lime drink. It tastes like flat Sprite but with a lot of extra sugar in it...not very good to be honest but not horrible. Then I went in to the dr after an hour and had my blood drawn and gave a urine sample to show how my body is processing the sugar. If you score over 140 you are "diabetic" but if you score over 130 you have to do the 3 hour test to re-check. I already got my results and scored 102!(last time it was 109) BAM! No gestational diabetes for me!!
I also had my 28 week dr appointment right after my blood draw. It was quick and sweet (since I just saw Dr. Brandes 2 weeks ago). I didn't have any questions or concerns. My weight gain is still right around 22lbs, and my blood pressure was 98/66. She measured my uterus and it is still exactly on track at 28cms. She also found the heartbeat and it is still staying very consistent at 150bpm. I did then remember to ask about how currently on the top right side of my belly, by my ribs, I have had some part of the baby "stuck" up there. I was just curious if she could tell which part of the baby it was. She felt around and definately could feel the hard spot and took an educational guess based on where the hearbeat was located that it is the baby's butt. She thinks currently baby is head down (I HOPE SO!!) and its butt is up by my ribs and its legs are wrapped down on my left side. She also said don't get too excited because he/she will still be flipping around a lot before delivery time.
After my appointment, I broke my fast with cheese and crackers! But similar to last time, I didn't feel well and I felt extremely exhausted and even fell asleep on the couch with Ellery jumping all over me.
Now, 7pm, I am a bit more hungry and Chad and I are getting take out from Table65.  Alfredo and a cherry coke is on the dinner menu for me!

28 Weeks

Baby is the size of an rutabaga this week

How far along? 28 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +23lbs

Maternity clothes? Love them and can't even think about not wearing them. I wore regular jeans one day (with a ponytail tie holding them together...) but by the end of the day they were not very comfortable at all.

Stretch marks? Still no stretch marks, I still think it helps that I am gaining weight gradually vs gaining it all suddenly at the end. I think it gives my body time to adjust without leaving marks.

Sleep: I wake up constantly to have to pee or because I am having odd dreams (I have those a lot). Biggest problem is that once I am awake I am up for at least a half hour before I can fall asleep. So I usually get on facebook or pinterest and try to pass time till I can fall asleep again.

Best moment this week: I found an amazing sale on a maternity dress. 15$! Now I have something to wear that fits, and looks nice for Chad and my dinner date at Fogo De Chao over our "babymoon"!

Movement: I feel movement here and there, still not as much as I felt with Elle. I feel it down low sometimes and then randomly up in my rib cage. It shows he/she is still flipping around lots.

Food cravings: No cravings in particular, but still not really wanting on chocolate.  I have actually had 3 boxes of the peanut butter Girl Scout "Tagalongs" cookies at home and have yet to finish a box. I have only eaten 3 cookies. I just see them and don't really have the urge to eat them.

Belly Button in or out? It is out and ready to party!

Wedding rings on or off? Wedding ring is still fits with no problems, the weather is still freezing so it is loose most of the day.

What I miss: Being able to drink. Not that I want a drink every night but I wish I could go out with friends from work or on a date night with Chad and have a beer or glass of wine.

What I am looking forward to: Our "babymoon" vacation is only 2 weeks away! :)

Upcoming events: I know go see Dr. Brandes every 2 weeks (because I am in my 3rd trimester) and I have my next appointment on Friday. I also have my 1 hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes on Friday afternoon. Bad this is for that test I need to fast (from food and water) for 6 hours before my appointment. I may die of starvation haha ;).

27 Weeks- EEK 3rd Trimester

We are 2/3 of the way done! WHAT?!?! Well, hello 3rd trimester. The trimester where your body is uncomfortable, bladder constantly needing to empty, and baby getting huge and tight in the space. The baby is the size of a rutabaga this week. Ranging from 2-2.5lbs now.
I have been sick the past 3 days with some sort of stomach bug and today was the first day I was actually able to eat all 3 meals and a few crackers for snacks... but this means I haven't really gained any weight this week. Baby still prefers to move more in the night time. Usually around 7pm for a little bit and then again in the middle of the night. I only feel it if I wake up because I have been having horrible dreams lately. Chad said the other day I asked him in my sleep if I had bunnies on my belly, and when he told me no I was really sad. Oh these dreams are odd and scary how real they feel. Other than the dreams I have been sleeping great. I try not to drink much before bed to help prevent me needing to pee, and I have yet to really get uncomfortable. Soon enough though.
Next week I have my 1 hour glucose test, so not really looking forward to that. But in a couple weeks after that, Chad and I have our babymoon 3 day vacation in Minneapolis and I am really looking forward to that! :)

Stomach bug + pregnancy = :(

Not sure if I caught a bug or ate something bad but this weekend something is irritating my belly. It started Saturday afternoon and now (Sunday evening) it is still continuing. I actually don't feel sick at all other than I need to use the bathroom more frequently than normal. Nothing I eat wants to stay in me. Chad tried making me an amazing, cheesy pizza...it tasted delicious but no luck. So instead I am sticking to crackers and water. I just worry more than normal because I am pregnant. Normally when I am sick, it isn't fun but I only worry about me. Now I have someone else that is being affected by this. I have been drinking more water than anything because  I read online that being pregnant can actually cause me to get dehydrated easier than normal. If I still am not 100% or making progress towards it, I may just call the nurse's line to check to make sure I shouldn't come in to the clinic or be doing something specific. But for now, as long as baby is kicking I feel better.

26 Weeks!

We are officially at the under 100 days point of this pregnancy. Baby is the length of an English Cucumber. I am 26 weeks and that means we have only 97 days left until the big due date. Will I actually have the baby by then? Who knows. Based on Ellery's pregnancy I have a feeling this baby will also be sitting tight it there till I force eviction.
I had a dr. appt yesterday. I am up about 22 lbs now and my uterus is measuring right on at 26cms. So that is great! My blood pressure was low as always (100/62) but better low than high I figure. I asked the dr. about the lack of movement I feel throughout the day and she reassured me that it is normal because I am up moving around and the anterior placenta makes it so EVERYTHING is going to feel way different than last time. It's hard not to worry though when I am not feeling very many of those typical HARD kicks. Dr. Brandes was able to find the heartbeat yesterday right away. It was right between 148 and 152bpm. Pretty typical but seeing it drop to 148 those few times makes me question could this be a boy?!?!?!? :) or a calm little lady?!?!?! :) Well what ever you are, I pray you are healthy, and I can't wait to meet you in 14 or so weeks! (Hopefully the weather will warm up by then-its been brutally cold out here in the real world lately)

25 weeks

We are clearly at that point in the pregnancy where my belly officially sticks out past my bobs. I am feeling huge. The baby is the size of a head of cauliflower. I have been trying to stay more active lately by going to the gym 2-3 times a week. Yesterday I walked 3 miles on the treadmill. It felt great, until about 2 hours later. My legs and hips hurt so bad when I would try to get up and walk around. I try not to work too hard but I also want to stay active if possible.
I have also been really clumsy lately: physically clumsy and mentally. I keep tripping on things and slipping on snow outside. The worst though is when teaching the past few days I can't focus. I will tell the kids one thing, write it on the board and it will say something completely different. WHAT?! Its the same when I try to read with the kids, I get in this weird zone and start making up my own words or story. Its odd but the kids at school find it really funny.
Funny story: At school today I had recess duty and went to put my snowpants on and found that they will not button anymore. I said "well these aren't going to button" aloud to myself. A student heard me and said, "I can help" and came over to try to help me button my pants...it was sweet but also a battle no one would be able to help me win. They will just have to stay open for the rest of winter....
Oh well, a growing belly means a growing baby right? I hope so! Keep growing child!

Bouncing Baby and Back Pain

Interesting title for a blog post but it perfectly sums up my day today.
Bouncing baby:This baby moves but it is so different than with Ellery. It is always so low and its never very hard (dr says because of my anterior placenta). It also never seems to happen as much as it did with Ellery. But tonight he/she started to move and it was actually hard enough to notice my belly bouncing up and down. I called Ellery over to watch it and she put her hand on my belly and BAM her hand flew off my hand. Baby literally bounced that high. The best part was her reaction: her eyes got wide, she looked at me confused and when I smiled to show her it was ok she laughed and said "The baby is bouncing in there!" Then she tried to "hit" the baby back, thinking she was playing a game, but I had to explain that the baby isn't trying to hit her but just say hi. It was just such a cool moment to see in her eyes.
Back Pain:Now the not so fun part of my day. I have HORRIBLE back pain at the moment. Honestly, it is almost making me feel like I am in labor but without my stomach contracting (I checked a few times to make sure it wasn't getting hard). I tried laying down on the floor...BIG MISTAKE...I almost couldn't get up. I actually had to roll to my stomach to get up-I was like a turtle. The I tried sitting on the floor and that was also horrible. I just feel like all my weight is sinking into the back of my hips and it hurts. So the only thing I have found to help is to lay on the couch with a pillow or rolled blanket under my lower back. Once Ellery goes to bed I will be searching for our heating pad to see if that helps too.
